I’ve heard alot of people and friends saying about fairness in our world, specifically in our education system.
Some say why should we learn BM (Bahasa Malaysia)?
Some say why study BI (Bahasa Inggeris)?
More recently, some say why study Hubungan Etnik?
Some say why study TITAS? TITAS has more to Islamic civilization things compared to other civilizations. It might be an advantage and actually is an advantage for the Muslims studying this subject. They could pretty much sit for the test or at least study the other two civilazations – India and China and pass the exam with flying colors! How can this be fair...!!??!... when we actually have to burn midnight oil and trying everything we could to fit whatever that we could fit in inside our brains?
Yeah, unfair in one part but I think it all winds down to how we see

totally agree with u!!!
ola..
in my opinion, having TITAS as a subject does not give an advantage to malays. yes, the lecturer might be teaching more of TI than TAS, but:
1. TITAS is only 2 credit hours, as compared to 4 credit hours advantage against chinese students who have better profeciency of the english language (tak percaya, look at how many malays who took prepatory english)
2. how many malays friends of yours actually say that they "like" TITAS? they also struggle what.. just being a malay doesn't automatically mean that you will be genius in TITAS
3. TITAS is usually asked in objective form (most faculties la..) so technically everyone has a 0.25 possibility of getting the correct answer. in this case alon, it's fair what? unless they say, oh for malay only have to choose between 2 answers, and non malays choose between 6 answers. then i think it is unfair (maybe?)
4. i was an Academic EXCO of the UNIMAS 2006/2007 MPP. i had the list of students who scores more than 3 times dean list. more than three quarter are chinese. who say TITAS (2 credit hours as opposed to 100/120 credit hours to graduate) makes the chinese not succesfull?
5. unless you come up with a statistical proof that there are a ridiculously extra high percentage of malays getting A in TITAS compared to chinese, your claim cant be reliable. you will learn this for your FYP later. also, of those your senior who repeated TITAS, how many malays and how many chinese? from my faculty, i never saw a chinese repeat TITAS. usually malays. only once my chinese friend from fsts repeat TITAS and that was because she forgot to go to TITAS exam, so fail liao. next time she repeat, got A.
why study hubungan etnik? OMG, why is this even a question? so that malaysians actually get to know other cultures. whether the studying is fun or not depends on the lecturer. for my faculty (feb) we always had fun because we did scrap book and dances and all sorts of hands on stuffs. if the studying is boring, don't blame the subject, blame the lecturer lo.. i think hubungan etnik is educational, beneficial and fun. my group had to do research on india muslim and i learn a lot from my research. we did a mix dance wo. really really fun haha..
about the 1st question, i think people should be given choice. those who want to study in BM, go to SMK. those who want to study in mandarin or tamil, go to SMJK. those who want to study in english, maybe they can make a seperate class, or recreate english medium school. like prepaid ma, nobody force u to choose anything, right? i'm saying this not to say that just because i'm malay or what. i was from a BM medium, but i'm better off using english. so, this is surely an advantage to my friends who study in BM, then get scholarship to study oversea and does not perform in oversea countries, when i struggle in BM, got a so-so result and nobody want to offer to go to oversea because my 'fizik, kimia' is not A1. you get what i mean or not?
walao so long i type. to wrap up, i'm writing here in a neutral tone. i'm not saying u are right, or wrong. i'm just saying my opinion from a neutral point of view. nice to meet u and happy holidays!
p/s: i hated TITAS SO SO SO MUCH hehe..
