Christians, as mentioned, signifies followers of Jesus Christ. A Christian gets to know about Jesus and his history and teachings from the Bible. Why do Christians put their faith in the Bible? 2 Timothy 3:16 assures that, “All Scripture is inspired of God”. Jesus said clearly that he is the Son of God, stating that he has a Father and throughout his life, has glorified the Divine Name, Jehovah through the usage of His name in his teachings to the people of his time. So wouldn’t it be right that as Christians, each one should be glorifying God’s name in whatever ways possible instead of not using His name or perhaps even replacing it with titles such as Lord or God or The Almighty?
Ezekiel 36:23: “And I shall certainly sanctify my great name.... and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah...”
Searching for the ONE
In Kuching alone there are numerous churches. Some seemed to spring out from places we don’t even know of. With so many choices, sometimes people out there feel that all of them are the same and some doesn’t think so. So how do we identify the not?
Matthew 7:15-20 - 15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
So this scripture sets a very simple and basic guideline to spot-the-not. It says some are disguising, “in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15) Verses 20 further states, “Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].”
